Field Notes
Cross-boarder process serving: The United States and Canada both are parties to the Hague Service Convention. This means that the formal internationally recognized method of serving judicial and extrajudicial documents across the border is via the Convention. To serve U.S. legal papers in Canada, you can send them through the Hague Service Convention using the Canadian province’s Central Authority. Alternatively, you may use a Canadian process server, since Canada allows personal service by qualified professionals.
Surveillance: There are multiple tricks and techniques while conducting surveillance which include specific driving tactics, surveillance set-up, on-foot follow tricks, and evironmental/behavioural/descriptive observations that can be employed to improve surveillance success. There is too much to add here. Please email me if interested in more resources.
Reconnaissance: Do not underestimate searching online maps, addresses, companies, people, and contact information when conducting recon. The more information the better. Details as minor as a persons necklace or tree placement in an area can supoort recon efforts.
